Huntley, IL – May 16, 2024 – At the regular Huntley 158 board of education meeting on April 18, 2024, the board approved a new consolidated Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) for Huntley Community School District 158 and the Huntley Park District. 

Through the new IGA, the district approved a resolution agreeing to:

• Maintain fiscal responsibility with residents in mind while continuing to provide high quality services; and

• Collectively seek partnerships for the benefit of both organizations and the community at large.

Both the school district and park district have worked collaboratively and successfully over the years on many fronts under three separate IGAs. The park district has provided before- and after-school childcare (Beyond the Bell program) and intramural basketball programs for families at Huntley 158 schools for many years. In addition, the park district has provided the school district with access to Pinecrest Golf Club for the Huntley High School (HHS) golf program and various parks for the HHS cross country team, and has served as a host site for the high school’s AP testing each spring. 

In an effort to streamline the agreements and continue to leverage additional resources for mutual benefit, the school district and park district desired to strengthen their relationship and consolidate the agreements this year. 

Under the new IGA, the park district will provide the school district use of its Deicke Park facility for students taking day trips for recreation and life skills learning starting with the 2024-25 school year. In return, Huntley 158 will make its baseball and softball fields at Huntley 158 middle schools available to the park district for continued expansion of these programs to the community.  

Both the school district and park district, along with the Village of Huntley, Huntley Police Department, Huntley Fire Protection District and the Huntley Area Public Library, participate in a local leadership group called the Huntley Area Administrative Roundtable (HAART), whose mission is to align and lead the community’s pursuit of excellence through a shared vision for future-oriented planning, innovation, and fiscal responsibility in order to enhance the quality of life for the community.
