In 1999, Jerry Nepermann had made the decision to run for a position on the Huntley Park District Board of Commissioners. 20 years later, the Huntley Park District and community celebrates the past two decades of time Jerry has given as both a commissioner and current Board President.

When asked about the role and influence Nepermann has had on both the agency and community, Executive Director, Thom Palmer stated, "Jerry’s leadership and commitment to the Huntley community is a gift that keeps on giving. He has been a lifelong resident of the area and not only knows the history of Huntley, but knows just about everyone that lives in Huntley. Jerry is very approachable and likes to hear from the residents of the park district regarding new ideas for programs or projects."

Founded in April of 1965, the Huntley Park District has seen it's share of influential leaders. Edwin Deicke, Lima Tessendorf, Edward Piske, Michael Kiley, and Irv Wasserstrass served as the first Board of Commissioners in the agency's history. Many will find beautiful parks within the Huntley community named after historical figures such as these. The first meetings were held at the Deicke residence, now known as Sun Valley Farm located on West Main Street.
