JUNE 2 UPDATE – PHASE 3
SUMMER PROGRAM UPDATES

Escape Room Camp:  We will be offering a virtual Escape Room Camp beginning June 15 and we will offer this for the duration of the summer, even when in-person camp begins for those that prefer this format.  We have partnered with Brain Chase who has developed content and a very child-friendly interactive interface.

Fitness: We are now offering an Outdoor Fitness Class Pass through July 3.  The cost is $30 per person which allows you to join as many classes as you want during this time.  Classes are limited to 9 people per class (plus the instructor).  To purchase this pass please visit our website

Current fitness memberships remain on hold until the fitness center reopens.

Human Foosball (Soccer):  We are offering a creative take on soccer to meet the Phase 3 outdoor recreation guidelines.  Please see our website for more details.  Registration deadline is June 5 at Noon.

Virtual REC Center: Registration for virtual programming offered by the Huntley Park District is currently open. In addition to programs, you can find local and national resources for things to do from the comfort of your home. Visit www.huntleyparks.org/virtual to view our new Virtual REC Center.

T-Ball/Lil Minors:  This program has been postponed starting with the start of Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, tentatively July 6 at this time.  Registration for this program is reopened at this time and the registration deadline is June 8.  After that, fees will increase, and additional players will be added only if spaces are available.

Summer Day Camp: At this time, in-person camp will not begin until our region is declared to be in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan, as determined by the State of Illinois. Tentatively, in-person camp will start July 6. Registration for Summer Day Camp is temporarily not available. We are expecting specific social distancing guidelines (not yet available to us) and we must know those guidelines so we can determine if we can safely accommodate more people than are currently enrolled.  If registration becomes active again, specific instructions, helpful tips, how to get access to your online account, and screencasts of how to do this online are now available HERE. Also, please note, the following as it pertains to camp:

  1. At this time, we are planning to hold camp but fully expect there to be new social distancing guidelines and safety procedures. We intend to follow whatever guidance is recommended to deliver a safe camp experience.
  2. Stingray Bay is closed so there will be no trips to the pool this summer
  3. There will be no field trips as this would put children near each other in a confined space.
  4. We do plan to increase onsite entertainment for camps as a replacement for these trips.
  5. Should camp be cancelled due to situations beyond our control, all participants would receive a FULL refund, including the normally non-refundable deposit. It is the intention of the Huntley Park District to make whatever situation we face right for our customers.

Parks/Playgrounds:  Playgrounds and the Outdoor Fitness Park are still closed during Phase 3 of Restore Illinois.  We have yet to receive clear guidance on when playgrounds can reopen from IDPH but they are certainly still closed now.

Baseball fields have activity again on them.  Teams that have agreements with the park district are specifically “permitted” to use the fields under specific restrictions that have been communicated and formally agreed to by all parties.  In general, NO organized activities can take place on Park District property without a permit.  Each coach has a permit.  Individuals can use the fields for personal use at times when permitted team activities are not using them.

Basketball Courts and Skate Parks are now reopened but participants must observe social distancing guidelines and remain 6 ft. away from each other while playing.

Stingray Bay: Stingray Bay will not open in 2020. Please see previous updates below for more information on refunds.

Adult Trips: All Adult Trips through December 31, 2020 have been cancelled.

Studio Dance:  The Recital (Spring) Session of Dance is cancelled and participants should check their email for information on refunds.

Registration: Registration is open only for programs that we know will be held at this time.  The programs mentioned above are open for registration now or will be made available very soon.  Fall programs such as sports leagues, Seedlings Preschool and Extended Time Program are still open at this time online.

Activity Guide: Please refer to these updates and our online registration portal Web Trac for currently available programs. The summer brochure was published online only but many of those programs have been cancelled.  We will be providing other digital “activity guides” in the coming weeks until program availability becomes clearer.  We have posted additional instructional videos to help those of you who may be new to online registration. If you don't know your login information, please contact us at the email provided below.

Park District Offices Still Closed
Since we are not able to offer indoor programming at this time our office is still closed to walk-in traffic.  You can contact our office Monday through Friday from 9:00a-Noon at (847) 669-3180 x.1 during these times or email us at info@huntleyparks.org.  Also, our program supervisors are back at their offices.  Feel free to reach out directly as appropriate.

Summer Day Camp: Please see our announcement that was published on Tuesday, May 19 HERE.

Stingray Bay: Please see our announcement that was published on Monday, May 18 HERE.

Adult Trips:  Planning for Fall trips normally wraps up at this time each year and with the current restrictions on activities like this, All Adult Trips through December 31, 2020 have been cancelled.

Fitness: Upon the start of Phase 3 in the Restore Illinois plan, we will be offering outdoor fitness classes and personal training. A schedule for these classes and directions on how you can get involved, will be communicated as the anticipated June 1 start date approaches. Current Huntley Park District Fitness members will be emailed directly regarding these options and remaining spaces will be made available to the general public if they remain after current members have the opportunity to participate.  Spaces are limited.

We are anticipating re-opening our Fitness Center on Monday, July 6 (assuming the criteria to enter into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan is met by then).  Fitness Members will also receive direct communication regarding this.

Studio Dance:  We are working with our partners at Dixon Dance Studios to potentially resume classes as early as June under strict safety guidelines.  We will reach out to these customers directly when a decision is made.  We hope to make this decision by Friday, May 29.  Please watch your email for information.

June Programs:  Many programs listed in our summer brochure have been cancelled.  We are planning some new programs that will appropriately use outdoor spaces, maintain social distancing guidelines, and provide for safe activities.  Continue to watch our website, Facebook, and Instagram for announcements as soon as details are confirmed.

Virtual REC Center: Registration for virtual programming offered by the Huntley Park District is currently open. In addition to programs, you can find local and national resources for things to do from the comfort of your home. Visit https://www.huntleyparks.org/virtual to view our new Virtual REC Center.

Registration: The registration for summer classes is temporarily disabled until such time that we know the park district can reopen, and under what circumstances. Those who have already registered, there is no change to your status. For those that wish to enroll for summer programs, but have not yet, please check in with our website or Facebook regularly as this is where we will post updates once an opening date is determined. Virtual Program registration is available online. Fall programs such as sports leagues, Seedlings Preschool and Extended Time Program are still open at this time online.

Summer Brochure: The summer brochure WAS NOT mailed to homes for the summer. The summer brochure is now posted online; however, please note that many activities will be modified, cancelled, or otherwise changed based on further direction from the State of Illinois.  All other activities and programs can also be searched through our online registration portal Web Trac. We have posted additional instructional videos to help those of you who may be new to online registration. If you don't know your login information, please contact us at the email provided below.

Park District Offices Still Closed
Based on the recent extension of the stay at home order by Illinois Governor Pritzker, Huntley Park District offices remain closed until at least Monday, July 6 or until the Governor's
Executive Order is lifted to help minimize exposure to participants and staff and to help slow the spread of the virus.  All activities (other than the few listed above), rentals, and events are cancelled until Monday, July 6 or until the order is lifted.  If we safely enter Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, we tentatively plan to reopen our offices on Monday, July 6.

Use of Outdoor Spaces: With the latest order from Governor Pritzker, Huntley Park District “playgrounds” remain closed.  In addition, all basketball courts, skate parks, and the outdoor fitness park are also still closed.  Organizations that currently work with the Huntley Park District may be permitted to use fields under strict guidelines and will be independently approved to do so.  Use of these amenities is a violation of the State’s executive orders and/or existing Park District Ordinances.  We ask parents to please supervise their children and educate them on the restrictions of Restore Illinois Plan.

Other open spaces and trails owned by the Park District are still available.  With that in mind, while visiting Huntley Park District parks and open spaces, residents and guests please observe Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines, which include staying at least 6-feet away from others and refraining from gathering in groups of 10 or more. This also means avoiding playdates, picnics, pick-up games, and team practices. Finally, and most importantly, if you are not feeling well, please stay home until you have fully recovered.

Any public bathrooms maintained by the Park District are also closed.  Also, for the safety of our staff, you can expect to see non-essential enhancements such as the planting and watering of flowers to stop at this time.

How to Reach Us:  Essential staff are currently working remotely, and some will return to offices in June, but our Office is still closed to the public. Registration is exclusively available online.  If you need to reach us during this time you can reach us via Facebook, email us at info@huntleyparks.org, or call and leave a message at (847) 669-3180 x. 1.  You can expect a response to any messages within one to two business days.
