Huntley Park District Board of Commissioners serve 6-year terms as non-partisan elected officials.  The five members of the Board of Commissioners of the Huntley Park District represent more than over 2,100 citizens that serve on Illinois Park District, Forest Preserve District, and Recreation Boards in the State of Illinois.  Serving without compensation, locally elected commissioners represent their fellow citizens and interpret their views.  Some of the responsibilities of the Board of Commissioners include: 

• Adopting policies that the organization to run efficiently, effectively, legally, and ethically
• Request, receive, evaluate and make decisions based on well researched guidance from the staff
• Interpret the agency's missions, vision, and values to the public
• Monitor operational and capital finances
• Help set strategic direction by adopting goals as related to the District's mission, vision, and values
• Act as a resource, a sounding board and as the eyes and ears of the citizens of the community, making sure the agency is meeting their needs. 
• Develop Maintain and update long-range plans, Adopt and adhere to a code of ethics.​
