Huntley, IL – December 24, 2024 – The Huntley Park District is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $384,500 matching grant from the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program by Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This funding will facilitate the renovation of Ol' Timers Park, enhancing recreational opportunities for the community.

This marks the second OSLAD grant awarded to the Huntley Park District within a year, following a $509,500 grant received in early 2024 for the renovation of Weiss Park.

The combined total of nearly $900,000 in grant funding underscores the district's commitment to securing alternative revenue sources to improve local parks and facilities. Keith Wold, Board President of the Huntley Park District, expressed his enthusiasm, "we are thrilled to receive this generous grant, which will allow us to revitalize Ol' Timers Park. This project reflects our dedication to providing exceptional recreational spaces for our residents." Executive Director of the Huntley Park District, Scott Crowe, added, "as we progress through completing the referendum projects, this announcement is one example of how we continue to seek alternate revenue to complete our projects. As part of the referendum project plan, we intend to seek over one million dollars in grant funding over the next eight years, and this award helps toward meeting that goal."

The Huntley Park District extends a big thank you to State Rep. Joe Sosnowski, State Senator Dave Syverson, and Huntley Village President Timothy J. Hoeft for championing our community! Their support helped secure vital funding for this important project, making a big impact for Huntley as well.

The renovation of Ol' Timers Park is a key component of the district's comprehensive plan to enhance and expand recreational facilities, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the Huntley community. The project is slated to begin in late 2025, with completion anticipated in 2026.
